about

Heatwave, the original group by that name ca. 1969, recorded 'Rastus Ravel (Is A Mean Old Man)' instrumental track prior to recording the vocals, in Pye Studios, London, on 16th October 1970.

Friday 13th November 1970, Larry Page released the song as the B-side (PEN 738 2F) on their single on Penny Farthing Records in England, Germany and Japan.

Heatwave played the Liverpool Cavern Club for a week and is proud of its commemorative brick, 20 rows directly above 'John', in the Cavern Wall of Fame.

Rastus Ravel (Is A Mean Old Man)', the funky B-side, was still popular in London and Tokyo clubs in 2000 while 'Sister Simon (Funny Man)', the A-side, still receives radio airplay.
